Facebook:
How do you view Facebook & it's policies? Your impression of the site?

Imzadi Giles:The site has come a long way since the beginning. It used to be rather user unfriendly IMO

Imzadi Giles: The policies , honestly I cant say I know much about them.

How do you think this social site will affect us in how we communicate?

Imzadi Giles: I think it is opening up a whole new can of worms when it comes to communication. We can meet people we may have never met before

How is it opening a new can of worms?

Imzadi Giles: ok ok a opening new doors.. can of worms wasn’t right. More doors and more opportunities

Is there any kind of specific technology you have to use to access the website? Any specific specs?

Imzadi Giles: Other than my browser and the internet there is nothing

Are there things about Facebook, Myspace, etc that worry you?

Imzadi Giles: Not really. People get all fussy about possible rapists and bad guys on the sites but honestly.. if you use common sense you will be fine. Its no more dangerous than going out shopping or something.

What would you suggest to new users who are just venturing into the world of social sites like Facebook? Any warnings?

Imzadi Giles: The only advice would be to have fun and just use your head. Use common sense.


Second Life:
What is your impression of Second Life?

Imzadi Giles: Overall its an entertaining environment with tons of things to do

That being said, how do you view that this will change our future?

Imzadi Giles: I think it will help with social networkings. Meeting new people from all over the world with possibly the same interests as yourself.

Do you think it would be for good or worse in our future?

Imzadi Giles: For the good.

What about the business side? How do you feel about doing business in-world?

Imzadi Giles: For the business side it can be very good for some. There are many who make their Real Life living creating items in Second Life. I Thoroughly enjoy creating content for others and hope to achieve my goal of making Second Life my living.

Are you worried about copyrights?

Imzadi Giles: no more in Second Life than in Real Life. There is always the threat of someone stealing your work. Keep good records and you will have little problem

What kind of tools do you use to create your work?

Imzadi Giles: the build interface in SL itself. Photoshop, the internet for looking for textures. and an in world sculpting tool called Sculpt Studio.

Imzadi Giles: also sometimes Daz3d for animations

Can anyone just use any computer to use Second Life or does it have to be a more modern machine?

Imzadi Giles: Technically anyone can use it. It works on most laptops. BUT to get the best experience you will need a more than basic computer. Higher end is the best route but even some out of the box systems work well

What would you suggest to new users who are just venturing into the world of virtual communities like Second Life? Any warnings?

Imzadi Giles: Watch out for scams. There are many of them If you use your head and research things you will be fine.

Are there ways someone can be addicted to virtual communities and media sites?

Imzadi Giles: Absolutely. Much has to do with the friendships you can build along with the creative outlet. Some use it as an 'escape' from their Real life's when things are going bad.
